FIFA President Infantino Avoids Questions on His Future Amid Growing Uncertainty

Kathmandu— FIFA President Gianni Infantino has avoided questions about his future leadership during the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, declining to comment on his re-election prospects or potential resignation. The 56-year-old president, who faces increasing pressure following the collapse of his World Cup rights-selling plan, remained evasive when approached by reporters at the tournament’s opening day.

FIFA's Response to Criticism

In response to the criticism and legal challenges, FIFA has accused UEFA of running a ‘smear campaign’ against the organization and its leadership. A court filing by FIFA on Thursday accused UEFA of seeking discovery of evidence related to the FIFA Forward Enterprise plan. This development adds to the growing pressure on Infantino and raises questions about the future of his presidency.

Infantino continues to navigate the challenges, maintaining that there will be a 'right place and a right time' to address his future at FIFA. The upcoming FIFA election next year will be a critical moment for Infantino's leadership.
