Kathmandu, Nov 13. President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mohammad Abdul Hamid who is presently on the four-day official goodwill visit to Nepal today paid a courtesy call on Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
During the meeting, the two exchanged the views on the strengthening of bilateral ties, according to NCP Foreign Department deputy chief Bishnu Rijal.
On the occasion, President Hamid expressed his commitment to moving ahead collectively to promote mutual assistance and cooperation in the changing context.
Stating that Nepal and Bangladesh were on the path towards development and political stability, the Bangladeshi President underlined the need of joint efforts to face possible challenges towards that end.
President Hamid praised NCP Chair Dahal’s contribution to Nepal’s changes and peace process. He also lauded Nepal’s role in Bangladesh’s independence movement, Rijal told media-persons.
President Hamid arrived here on November 12 at the invitation of President Bhandari. He made a field-tour of Bhaktapur Durbar Square on November 12 itself.
He is scheduled to call on President Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today itself. He is slated to visit Pokhara and Chandragiri Hill in Kathmandu on Thursday. President Hamid is said to be wrapping up his visit and returning to Bangladesh on November 15.
