Lawmakers have suggested that the bill should be prepared in such a way that the proposed Madan Bhandari University would run classes exclusively on science and technology stream. In a clause-wise discussions on the bill on the proposed university today, the members of the Education and Health Committee under the House of Representatives said that the Madan Bhandari University should be made specialised only in science and technology. At the meeting, Committee President Jayapuri Gharti said that as the bill has incorporated other areas for the study amendment would be made to run classes only in science and technology fields. Earlier, the bill had proposed 85 per cent of classes in science and technology and others with 15 per cent weightage but this provision would be changed to make the university entirely focused on science and technology. On the occasion, Education Minister Girirajmani Pokharel said that pure and practical science and technology would be taught adding that the institution would be within top 200 universities of the world. He was of the view that the university would be focused on generating human resource and technology development, while claiming that it would a center of excellence for research works by keeping it free from political sway. Lawmakers Ram Kumari Jhakri, Binda Pandey, Jibanram Shrestha and others expressed their ideas on the bill proposing their amendment to make the university a world-class academic institution.
