Kathmandu— Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed over one crore young citizens through videoconferencing on Sunday, launching the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan' initiative. He emphasized that today's youth are the 'Amritpidhi', destined to lead India towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, and stressed the importance of staying away from drugs and addiction.

Youth as Future Leaders

Modi referred to today's youth as 'Amritpidhi', signifying their role in shaping India’s future. He highlighted that young Indians will play a crucial role in achieving the goal of a developed nation by 2047, emphasizing the need for them to remain physically and mentally fit, free from destructive habits like drugs.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of youth staying away from addiction not just for their own well-being but also for the broader interests of families, society, and the entire nation.

Addressing Drug Addiction

Modi warned that while drugs may provide temporary highs, they can severely impact careers and family life. He urged young people to protect their potential by staying away from addiction.

He also appealed to families not to hide cases of drug addiction due to social stigma but instead seek timely medical assistance and support for those affected.

The launch marks the beginning of a 100-week nationwide Jan Bhagidari campaign against substance abuse, with activities organized every Sunday to promote awareness and public participation in building a drug-free society.
