All-Party Meeting in Dhangadhi Pledges Social Harmony

Kathmandu— In a meeting chaired by Kailali Chief District Officer Hiralal Regmi, political and religious leaders from Dhangadhi pledged to maintain social harmony, peace, and security. The commitment comes amid heightened concerns over recent activities in eastern Nepal that have raised tensions among communities.

Commitment to Social Unity

During the all-party meeting held today in Dhangadhi, representatives from various political parties, religious organizations, and social groups expressed their dedication to preventing any untoward activities. They emphasized the importance of communal harmony and public welfare, stressing that they would work diligently within their respective areas to uphold these values.

Chief District Officer Regmi highlighted the need for vigilance in Kailali district, noting that high alert has been maintained to monitor suspicious movements from border areas and other potential risk zones. He called for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure peace and security.

Legal Action Against Provocative Content

Leaders of Hindu, Muslim, and Christian communities stressed the importance of preventing wrongdoing within their respective groups and taking legal action against those who violate laws or communal harmony. The meeting decided to form or reorganize Inter-religious and Social Harmony Coordination Committees at various local levels to mobilize efforts effectively.

It was agreed that religious gatherings representing only one community would require prior approval, and materials like weapons should not be displayed during such events. Additionally, legal action will be taken against those who disseminate misleading or provocative content on social media.

The Kailali Chamber of Commerce and Industry has planned a civic harmony rally for Monday to promote peace, mutual respect, and national unity among political parties, religious communities, professional organizations, media persons, intellectuals, civil society, and the general public.
