Kathmandu— In the ongoing assembly by-elections across India, Ghanshyam Singh of the Indian National Congress has taken a narrow lead in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia constituency after the fourth round of counting. Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor of the Jan Suraaj Party is surging ahead in Bihar's Bankipur seat, maintaining his position as the frontrunner.

Ghanshyam Singh's Narrow Lead

According to the latest data from the Election Commission of India (ECI), Ghanshyam Singh has secured 17,290 votes in Datia, leading BJP’s Ashutosh Tiwari by a margin of 833 votes. In an interview with ANI, Ghanshyam expressed confidence that his lead would widen as counting progresses. He noted that the trend had shifted significantly from the first round where the BJP candidate held a substantial advantage.

Prashant Kishor's Steady Lead

In Bihar’s Bankipur, Prashant Kishor of the Jan Suraaj Party has maintained a steady lead over his rivals after six rounds of counting. With 11,603 votes, he leads by a margin of 3,451 votes. Speaking to ANI earlier, Kishor said that he deliberately chose Bankipur, a long-standing BJP bastion, to send a message that Bihar’s voters should move beyond caste and religion while exercising their franchise.
