Kathmandu— In the last fiscal year, 103 pregnant and postpartum women received medevac services under Nepal's President's Women Upliftment Programme. The Ministry of Women, Children, Gender, Sexual Minorities and Social Security, in collaboration with the Nepali Army, airlifted these women from remote areas to ensure their safety and health.

Criteria for Medevac Services

The ministry has established specific criteria for medevac services under the Air Rescue Procedure 2077. Pregnant or delivering women at risk include those experiencing continuous long labor pain (more than 18 hours), difficult deliveries due to fetal positioning, and complications such as umbilical cord issues after birth. Additionally, postpartum women facing severe bleeding, uterine rupture, or suspicion of the baby being outside the uterus are also eligible for medevac services.
