Kathmandu— In a House of Representatives (HoR) session today, Nepalese lawmakers called on the government to establish a judicial committee to investigate recent incidents in Sunsari and the Tarai-Madhes region. The demand came as MPs sought time during the lower house session to discuss these developments and urged the government to take them seriously.

Calls for Fair Investigation

Bharat Bahadur Khadka, a member of parliament, demanded a fair probe into recent incidents in Sunsari and Tarai-Madhes. He advised the government to consider these issues seriously and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Dr Amaresh Kumar Singh praised Prime Minister Balendra Shah and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane for their efforts in managing unrest in the region, but also accused authorities of issuing direct orders for gunfire during protests. He called for an end to such practices.

Health and Safety Concerns

Shiba Shankar highlighted the government's initiatives to provide justice to victims of incidents in Sunsari and Tarai-Madhes, but emphasized that security forces should only use gunfire as a last resort. Shraddha Kunwar expressed concern over an artificial shortage of cooking gas in the market and urged the government to address this issue promptly.

Ankita Thakur demanded increased facilities for border security personnel and also highlighted the shortage of rabies vaccines in government health facilities.
