Nepal’s Foreign Minister Khanal Emphasizes Expanding Ties with South Korea

Kathmandu— Foreign Affairs Minister of Nepal, Shisir Khanal, emphasized the need to expand air connectivity, trade, tourism, education, technology, and people-to-people relations during a farewell call with South Korean Ambassador Park Taeyoung at the Foreign Ministry. The meeting focused on identifying new areas for investment and strengthening cooperation in sectors such as energy and production.

Priority Areas of Cooperation

Minister Khanal stressed that Nepal-South Korea trade, education, and health should be prioritized as key areas of cooperation. He noted the importance of expanding partnership beyond existing sectors like energy and production to include new opportunities for investment.

Ambassador Park expressed satisfaction with his tenure in Nepal and praised the country’s cultural diversity.

Model Collaboration

Khanal highlighted South Korea’s Employment Permit System as a model of Nepal-Korea relations, underscoring the need to increase collaboration between research organizations in both countries. He also mentioned the potential for further cooperation in the education sector.

Ambassador Park acknowledged the significance of these initiatives and expressed hope for continued growth in bilateral ties.
