Kathmandu— On Wednesday, China's Ministry of Finance and its Ministry of Emergency Management allocated 330 million yuan (approximately $48.61 million) from the central natural disaster relief fund to eight provincial-level regions affected by severe flooding during the country’s main flood season.

Funding Distribution

The funds are being distributed to Heilongjiang, Liaoning, and Jilin in northeastern China; Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan in the southwest; and Shaanxi in northwest China. These regions have been hit hard by persistent heavy rainfall that has caused widespread flooding and geological disasters.

Purpose of Relief Funds

The allocated funds are intended to support emergency rescue operations, including search and rescue efforts, relocation and resettlement of affected individuals, and emergency response measures. Additionally, the money will be used for hazard removal and risk reduction, inspection and rectification of secondary disaster risks, and repair of damaged homes.
