Chinese Services Gain Global Traction Through Innovation and Digital Integration

Kathmandu— Chinese service providers are increasingly gaining recognition worldwide by leveraging digital innovation and integrated logistics to meet diverse consumer demands. As international travelers and overseas shoppers seek more personalized and efficient experiences, Chinese companies are deploying advanced technologies and expanded infrastructure to bridge service gaps in markets ranging from Europe to domestic tourism hubs.

Expanding Logistics and E-commerce Reach

In Europe, the demand for rapid cooling solutions during summer heatwaves has highlighted the efficiency of Chinese logistics. Joybuy, the European arm of JD.com, has implemented an integrated delivery-and-installation service that allows consumers in over 30 cities, including London and Paris, to receive air conditioners on the same day if ordered in the morning.

By 2025, JD.com had established nearly 200 warehouses across 25 countries and regions. In Europe alone, the company has built more than 60 warehousing and delivery sites to support high-quality service for overseas consumers, according to Feng Lei, vice president of JD.com.

Streamlining International Travel

To facilitate the growing number of inbound visitors, Chinese platforms are launching comprehensive digital tools. Umetrip has introduced HiChina, a one-stop travel service tool designed to assist international visitors with multilingual flight searches, electronic boarding passes, and real-time alerts. The platform also integrates practical features such as English map navigation, NFC-enabled public transport payments, and tax refund location searches.

"We use digital services to enhance the reputation of 'Chinese services,' helping unlock the potential of inbound consumption and increase the global influence of 'China Travel,'" said Liu Feng, vice president of Umetrip.

Cultural and Specialized Services

Beyond logistics and travel, China is exporting specialized cultural and wellness experiences. In Tianjin, the century-old TCM brand Da Ren Tang has launched a traditional Chinese medicine-themed tourism program. The initiative offers overseas tourists seasonal tea tasting, meridian massage sessions, and herbal pill-making activities to connect traditional culture with modern life.

This trend aligns with broader government initiatives introduced in March to boost travel service exports. These measures include optimizing tax refund services and streamlining visa procedures to enhance the experience for foreign tourists.

Strategic Economic Outlook

The expansion of these services is supported by long-term economic planning. Wang Yiming, former vice president of the Development Research Center of the State Council, noted that China's 15th five-year plan (2026-2030) emphasizes relaxing market access in the service sector to create favorable conditions for new business forms.

As service consumption moves toward higher quality and experience-oriented offerings, China is expected to become a vital market for global enterprises. Liu Xiaolong, a global partner at Kearney Management Consultants, suggested that China's innovations in consumption models and cultural intellectual property will provide new opportunities for the global service sector.

China's inbound foreign visitors reached 22.91 million in the first half of 2026, representing a 20.4 percent year-on-year increase.
