Typhoon Dolphin Makes Second Landfall in China’s Zhejiang Province

ABC NEWS
२५ श्रावण २०८३, सोमबार   ६ : ५५   बजे

Kathmandu— Typhoon Dolphin made its second landfall in east China’s Zhejiang province on Sunday evening, impacting Yueqing City after initially hitting Yuhuan in Taizhou City earlier that day. The storm, the thirteenth typhoon this year, carried maximum sustained winds reaching Force 13 – equivalent to 38 meters per second – at its center. As a result of the severe weather, authorities canceled 388 flights at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, the capital city’s primary air hub.

Typhoon Path and Intensity

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) reported that Typhoon Dolphin first made landfall in Yuhuan, Taizhou City, Zhejiang province, around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Shortly after, at approximately 6:40 p.m., the typhoon continued its path and struck Yueqing City for a second time.

The storm’s intensity was significant, with maximum sustained winds reaching Force 14 during its initial landfall and remaining at Force 13 as it moved inland.

Flight Disruptions

The severe weather conditions caused substantial disruption to air travel in the region. Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, a major transportation hub for Zhejiang province, was forced to cancel 388 inbound and outbound flights on Sunday due to the typhoon’s impact.

Local authorities have been warned by the NMC to prepare for extreme rainfall as Typhoon Dolphin continues to move inland.
