However, he acknowledged that positive effects from these policies may take time to materialize. “My warning to my fellow Republicans would be if we don’t get this right, don’t blame young people for being sympathetic to socialism. The Vice President argued that simply defending the free market is insufficient to counter socialist appeals. He stated, “You don’t stop socialism by throwing slogans at people about the free market. A 2025 Gallup poll revealed that 39% of US adults view socialism positively, compared to 54% with a favorable opinion of capitalism and 81% favoring free enterprise. This shift in sentiment is also reflected in electoral politics, with progressive candidates gaining traction in Democratic primaries, such as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who campaigned on an affordability platform. A May poll by Marquette University Law School identified inflation and living costs as the top concern for 37% of respondents.

Vance’s remarks come ahead of November's midterm elections, where economic issues are expected to be central to voter concerns. The administration hopes that ongoing efforts to stimulate investment and stabilize prices will alleviate some of these pressures in the coming months.
