Kathmandu— Nepal's Energy Minister Birajbhakta Shrestha advocated for young people to embrace change as a catalyst for national development, speaking at an event hosted by Maharshi College in Kathmandu on Tuesday. He emphasized the potential of information technology to positively impact the country and also stressed the importance of prioritizing mental health alongside traditional education. The minister’s remarks came during a program recognizing Maharshi College's contributions to Nepal's educational landscape.

Focus on Youth Empowerment

Minister Shrestha firmly believes that young individuals hold the key to national advancement, and this progress is contingent upon their willingness to adapt to evolving circumstances. He specifically highlighted the potential for leveraging information technology as a powerful tool in driving positive change within Nepal.

Holistic Student Development

Beyond academic pursuits, Minister Shrestha underscored the critical importance of mental health for students. His comments suggest a growing recognition within the Nepali government of the need to address psychological well-being alongside traditional educational goals. This holistic approach aims to foster well-rounded individuals prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.

Maharshi College’s Educational Impact

Suresh Joshi, Head of Education Development and Unit Coordination in Kathmandu, publicly commended Maharshi College for its significant contributions to Nepal's education sector. He acknowledged the college’s achievements despite its relatively short history, indicating a rapid and positive impact on the country’s educational infrastructure. Prakash Chandra Dawadi, chairman of the college management committee, noted the institution’s two-decade commitment to improving education in Nepal.

The event highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve education and empower youth within Nepal, with Maharshi College recognized as a key contributor to these initiatives.
