Kathmandu— Nepal’s National Assembly on Thursday passed a proposal to send the Infectious Animal Disease (Control) Bill, 2083 BS, to the Legislative Management Committee for clause-by-clause discussion. Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary presented the motion seeking approval, which was unanimously supported by members of the assembly. The bill is intended to establish a framework for managing and preventing the spread of infectious diseases among animals within Nepal.
Bill Approved Unanimously
The proposal to send the Infectious Animal Disease (Control) Bill to committee was approved without dissent during Thursday’s session of the National Assembly. Minister Chaudhary formally requested the assembly's endorsement, paving the way for a more detailed examination of the legislation.
Legislative Review Process Begins
With the approval secured, the bill will now be reviewed by the Legislative Management Committee. This committee is responsible for scrutinizing the clauses of the bill and potentially proposing amendments before it returns to the National Assembly for final consideration.
The next meeting of the National Assembly is scheduled for 1:15 pm on Wednesday.
