China’s Foreign Minister Meets With Jordanian Counterpart During Royal Visit

Kathmandu— Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Beijing on Sunday, as King Abdullah II of Jordan visits China. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, China’s support for Jordan's independence, and collaboration on regional issues including the Palestinian question. The meeting underscored a commitment to deepening cooperation between the two nations across various sectors.

High-Level Diplomatic Exchange

Wang Yi, who also holds a position within the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conveyed expectations for a successful visit by King Abdullah II. He emphasized China’s appreciation for Jordan's consistent friendly policy towards China and its adherence to the one-China principle. Wang affirmed that China will continue to support Jordan in maintaining its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Regional Stability Focus

The Chinese Foreign Minister highlighted Jordan’s importance as a key country within the Middle East, pledging continued support for its positive contributions to regional matters, particularly concerning the Palestinian question. He indicated China's willingness to collaborate with Jordan on broader issues affecting the region. Safadi expressed gratitude for China’s hospitality during the royal visit and affirmed Jordan’s commitment to strengthening ties with China.

Shared Positions on Key Issues

Safadi conveyed Jordan’s high regard for its relationship with China, expressing a desire to expand cooperation across multiple fields. He specifically acknowledged and appreciated China's constructive and responsible approach to Middle East issues, particularly its unwavering support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian question.

The meeting signals continued diplomatic engagement between China and Jordan, reinforcing their commitment to bilateral relations and regional stability.
