Kathmandu— Russian air defenses destroyed 351 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over various Russian regions and the Black and Azov Seas overnight on Monday, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The attacks led to a large fire at an Ozon logistics center in Krasnodar, where three children were killed and seven others injured after drone debris struck a children’s facility. Attacks also targeted logistics centers in Adygea and Dagestan, prompting evacuations and emergency responses.
Widespread Drone Interceptions
On-duty air defenses intercepted and destroyed the 351 drones across multiple regions including Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Rostov, Krasnodar, Stavropol, Adygea, Crimea, and the waters of the Azov and Black Seas. In the Rostov Region alone, authorities reported destroying 120 Ukrainian drones and several cruise missiles overnight in four cities and fourteen districts.
Ozon Logistics Centers Targeted
Multiple Ozon logistics centers were targeted by drone attacks across southern Russia. A facility in Adygea experienced a fire after being struck, prompting the deployment of emergency services. The company evacuated its warehouses in Adygeisk and Nevinnomyssk as a precautionary measure, reporting no employee injuries or damage to goods. Another attack on an Ozon center in Makhachkala, Dagestan, also caused a fire, with preliminary reports indicating several injuries but no life-threatening conditions. A Krasnodar facility was similarly hit by a large fire.
Civilian Casualties Reported in Krasnodar
The most severe consequences of the drone attacks were reported in Krasnodar, where debris from intercepted drones fell on a private children's facility. Regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed that three children were killed and seven others injured, with all receiving necessary medical care. Two adults were also hospitalized as a result of the incident. Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage and casualties.
Attacks Reported in Zaporozhye Region
In Melitopol, Zaporozhye Region, a resident reported that an apartment building was struck by drones, resulting in a fire that destroyed two apartments on the seventh and eighth floors. Drone debris also impacted other residential buildings and structures under construction.
Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the damage and casualties across all affected regions as emergency services work to contain fires and provide assistance.
