Kathmandu— Poland has launched a terror investigation into a fire that broke out at the WB Electronics factory in Skarzysko-Kamienna, which supplies key components for drones to both Polish and Ukrainian militaries. The Polish National Prosecution Office announced on Monday that it is probing whether foreign intelligence services were involved in causing the fire deliberately using flammable materials.

Investigation Details

The investigation aims to uncover any involvement of a foreign intelligence service and potential terrorist activities. The Internal Security Agency is assisting police with the probe, which was launched due to suspicions that Russia may be behind the incident as part of its sabotage operations against facilities supporting Ukraine in the ongoing conflict.

Factory's Role

WB Electronics manufactures critical components for drones such as the FlyEye and Warmate models used by the Ukrainian military. The facility is one of Poland’s largest private defense companies, also producing loitering munitions, fire-control systems, and communication tools for military use.

European Context

Several European countries supporting Ukraine have reported suspected Russian sabotage operations in recent months. In August, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that a Russian citizen was detained who had been recruited by Russian services to carry out an assassination attempt in Warsaw. Additionally, an unexploded drone was found at a German airport earlier this month.
