Kathmandu— On August 31, 2026, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Xi pledged to usher in a new 'golden decade' for China-Uzbekistan relations, marking the 10th anniversary of their comprehensive strategic partnership and emphasizing deepened cooperation across various fields.
Strategic Mutual Trust
Xi Jinping highlighted that under the leadership of both heads of state, bilateral relations have seen significant progress in building a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future. He stressed that regardless of international changes, China's commitment to deepening friendship and supporting Uzbekistan’s development path will remain unwavering.
Cooperation Initiatives
Xi called for high-quality construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and expanded cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, anti-desertification, education, poverty reduction, and law enforcement. He also emphasized the importance of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
Uzbek President's Response
President Mirziyoyev congratulated China on its development achievements under Xi’s leadership and expressed full confidence in Chinese modernization. He noted that Uzbekistan remains committed to developing relations with China, regardless of international changes, and is ready to deepen political trust and expand trade and investment.
