Kathmandu— Prime Minister Balendra Shah has pledged swift action to rescue people trapped inside tunnels of various hydropower projects due to flooding in the Bhotekoshi river. During a meeting at Singha Durbar with Kulman Ghising, chairperson of Ujyalo Nepal Party, Shah assured that expert teams are working on the rescue efforts. The government plans to mobilize all necessary resources and personnel for the safe extraction of those trapped.

Rescue Efforts Underway

Prime Minister Shah clarified that specialized teams have been deployed to carry out rescue operations in the affected hydropower tunnels. Chair Ghising, speaking to media after the meeting, noted that they suggested providing essential equipment and human resources for the rescue mission. The government is committed to ensuring the safe return of all citizens trapped inside the tunnels.

Infrastructure Restoration

Chairman Kulman Ghising also discussed the need to restore road networks in flood-affected areas, particularly in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts. He emphasized that restoring these routes would accelerate relief distribution efforts. The meeting further explored extending road networks up to Syaphrubesi and installing Bailey bridges as part of broader infrastructure recovery plans.
