Kathmandu— Eight days after a devastating flood and landslide struck the Bhotekoshi area of Rasuwa, 168 people from eight districts of Nepal's Madhes Province remain unaccounted for, according to the Madhes Province Police Office, with families anxiously awaiting news as search efforts continue.

Missing Person Breakdown

The Madhes Province Police Office reported that Saptari has the highest number of missing individuals at 47, followed by Parsa with 38, Bara with 23, Sarlahi with 18, Rautahat with 13, Siraha with 12, Mahottari with 10, and Dhanusha with seven.

Twenty people from Nawalpur are also listed as missing following the August 27 flood, including 13 from Madhyabindu Municipality, three from Kawasoti, three from Binayi Tribeni, and one each from Gaidakot and Devchuli. Narayan Gaire of Kawasoti-6, initially reported missing, has since been confirmed safe and in contact with his family.

The administration has forwarded details of the missing to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority and is coordinating with other districts to locate those still unaccounted for.
