Kathmandu— A Nepali Army-led rescue operation recovered a body from the Trishuli-3 'A' hydropower tunnel in Rasuwa district on September 4, marking the first recovery of a victim trapped since catastrophic floods struck the area on August 26, with two others having been rescued earlier that day from the same tunnel.

Rescue Operation Details

The rescue mission, involving Nepali Army personnel, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, and international tunnel rescue experts from the US and China, successfully retrieved the body of a victim trapped inside the tunnel since the August 26 floods.

Local resident Seshnath Bhattarai from Simle, Nuwakot, confirmed the recovery to reporters, noting the body was pulled from the tunnel where the search and rescue operation has been ongoing.

The operation followed the earlier rescue of two individuals from the same tunnel, demonstrating the complexity and urgency of the mission in the aftermath of the floods.

Humanitarian aid distribution has intensified across Rasuwa district with the deployment of helicopters to support affected communities.
