Kathmandu— Chandika Shrestha, 60, was rescued alive on September 5 from the fourth floor of a four-storey building in Bidur Municipality-10, Betrawati, Nuwakot district, 11 days after floodwaters from the Bhotekoshi River buried the house up to the third floor on August 26. The woman was recovered from the upper floor of the partially buried structure and flown to Kathmandu by helicopter for further treatment, according to Netra Bahadur Karki, spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police Force.

Rescue After 11 Days

The rescue took place today in Betrawati, Nuwakot district, where the Bhotekoshi flood on August 26 had deposited debris over the building up to the third floor. Shrestha was found alive on the fourth floor of the house.

Netra Bahadur Karki, spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police Force, said Shrestha was rescued from an upper floor of a four-storey building in Bidur Municipality-10, Betrawati.

Medical Evacuation

Following the rescue, Shrestha was flown to Kathmandu in a helicopter for further treatment, according to Karki.

The rescue marks an 11-day survival in the debris of the August 26 flood in Betrawati.
