Palestinian Farmers Defy Settler Attacks to Protect Crops and Livestock

ABC NEWS

Kathmandu— In the occupied West Bank, Palestinian farmers like Theeba al-Sabaa and Anwar Sabarneh are battling daily settler attacks and military restrictions to protect their crops and livestock. Despite intimidation and violence, they remain committed to their land, which has been their primary source of livelihood for generations.

Impact on Agriculture

The ongoing attacks and restrictions have forced Palestinian farmers to face a fourth consecutive season without being able to harvest olives, grapes, or guava. Their lands have been neither plowed nor pruned, and have been forcibly abandoned. Hasan Breijieh, a settlement affairs expert, stated that continuous settlement expansionism and restrictions on Palestinian movement are the primary reasons that so many Palestinians have been forced to flee their farms.

Despite the challenges, Palestinian women like Theeba al-Sabaa continue to play a pivotal role in protecting their land and maintaining their family’s agricultural legacy.
