Kathmandu— Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov visited India from August 2 to August 5, aiming to prepare for an upcoming visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Uzbekistan. During his stay, Saidov met with Indian President Droupadi Murmu and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to discuss deepening strategic ties in areas such as energy, infrastructure, defense, and trade.

Preparation for PM Modi's Visit

Saidov emphasized that his visit was a practical continuation of the dialogue between Uzbekistan and India. He stated, “We agreed to hold these meetings and conversations in order to prepare for Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visit to Uzbekistan.” The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and using international platforms to enhance engagement.

Strategic Partnership Review

During the delegation-level talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Saidov highlighted the importance of India as a reliable strategic and trade partner in South Asia. The two sides took a comprehensive stock of their strategic partnership, delving into areas such as energy, infrastructure, defense, and trade. Jaishankar noted on X that they undertook a detailed review of their Strategic Partnership with particular focus on these sectors.
