Kathmandu— China has strongly condemned the United States for overreaching national security concerns and using state power to target Chinese businesses, according to comments made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian. The remarks come in response to reports that the U.S. is preparing new restrictions on imports of optical transceivers from China and considering price controls and tariffs on polysilicon products.
US Actions Disrupt Trade Relations
Lin Jian emphasized that such protectionist measures will not enhance American competitiveness but instead disrupt normal trade and economic interactions between Chinese and U.S. companies. The spokesperson noted that these actions are detrimental to the interests of U.S. businesses, consumers, and the broader public.
"Protectionism will not make the US more competitive," Lin Jian stated, highlighting the negative impact on bilateral relations.
China has vowed to continue defending its companies' legal rights in response to these actions.
