Kathmandu— The Madhya Pradesh government announced the launch of the 'Bhagwan Shri Krishna Medhavi Chhatravritti Yojana', a scholarship scheme aimed at promoting Indian knowledge systems and traditions among students. Under this initiative, 102 meritorious students across various educational levels will receive scholarships worth Rs 1 lakh each. The Congress party has criticized the move as a political diversion from addressing real student issues.
Scholarship Details
The scholarship scheme, which covers school, college, and university students, aims to reward academic excellence while encouraging students to develop skills inspired by Lord Krishna's teachings. The Shri Krishna Pathay Nyas will prepare the detailed framework, including eligibility criteria, selection process, and evaluation parameters. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s vision is to promote traditional knowledge systems alongside modern education through this initiative.
Application Process
Applicants must register through a dedicated website and answer an online questionnaire with more than 30 questions based on prescribed themes. Different applicants will receive different sets of questions, and if the number of successful candidates exceeds the available scholarships, selection will be made via lottery among eligible candidates.
Political Criticism
The Congress party has accused the state government of using Lord Krishna's name for political purposes. Mukesh Nayak, Chairman of the Congress Media Department, argued that instead of introducing such schemes, the government should focus on addressing issues like paper leaks and irregularities in examinations. The BJP spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi countered by accusing the opposition of having a problem with Sanatan Dharma.
