Kathmandu— Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the ceremonial President's Police Colour flag to the Puducherry Police during a ceremony held Sunday at the Police Ground in Gorimedu. The event, which honors the force, was part of a broader visit by the Home Minister to the region that included religious observances and the launch of new security initiatives.

Honors for Puducherry Police

During the presentation ceremony at the Police Training Ground, Shah officially handed over the President's Police Colour flag to the Puducherry Police. The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Chief Minister N Rangasamy, various cabinet ministers, and legislators.

In addition to the police honors, Shah was scheduled to flag off a 'Har Ghar Tiranga' rally at the Muruga Theatre Signal following the presentation ceremony.

Religious Observances in Tamil Nadu

Prior to his arrival in Puducherry, Shah traveled to Tamil Nadu to perform religious rites. On Saturday evening, he performed pooja at the Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple in Thiruvannamalai.

In a post on X, Shah noted that he prayed to Lord Mahadeva for the happiness and good fortune of every citizen. He also visited the sacred Sri Ramanasramam, remarking that the teachings of the sage Bhagwan Sri Ramana Maharshi serve as a fountain of wisdom that will continue to light humanity's path for eternity.

Banking Security and Urban Cooperation

In a separate development in Mumbai, Shah launched a Security Operations Centre designed for Urban Cooperative Banks and allied core banking services. This initiative is part of a nationwide service bundle aimed at strengthening financial security.

During the event at the BSE International Convention Centre, a Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged between the National Urban Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation (NUCFDC) and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU). Shah noted that the long-awaited Umbrella Organisation for Urban Cooperative Banks has now become a reality, backed by recognition from the Reserve Bank of India.

The Home Minister's visit concluded with a focus on both regional honors and national-level financial security infrastructure.
