Kathmandu— Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel conferred the insignia of Honorary General of the Nepali Army upon Dhiraj Seth, Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army, at a special ceremony held today at Shital Niwas, the President's House in Kathmandu. The presentation continues a longstanding tradition between Nepal and India initiated in 1950, where each country bestows this honor on the other’s army chief. Seth arrived in Nepal Sunday for a three-day visit.

Continuing a Decades-Long Tradition

The exchange of honorary general insignia between Nepal and India began in 1950 and has been maintained ever since, symbolizing the close relationship between the two nations' armies. The tradition represents a gesture of mutual respect and cooperation.

The investiture ceremony took place at Shital Niwas, with Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, senior government officials from Nepal, representatives from the Nepali Army, and the Indian Ambassador to Nepal in attendance.

Chief of Army Staff Seth’s three-day visit to Nepal is ongoing.
