Kathmandu— China’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) held its sixth plenary session in Beijing on Saturday, where officials called for strengthened efforts to combat corruption and enhance disciplinary supervision throughout the country. Li Xi, secretary of the CCDI and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC), addressed the session, emphasizing the need for higher standards and concrete measures in advancing anti-corruption work. The meeting reviewed progress made in the first half of 2026 and outlined plans to ensure effective implementation of tasks moving forward.
Focus on Political Oversight
The CCDI session prioritized strengthening political oversight and deepening political inspections as key components of its anti-corruption strategy. Officials emphasized the importance of strict discipline during leadership transitions, aiming to prevent corruption from taking root at higher levels of government. During the session, Zhao Shiyong and Zhang Zhong were elected as deputy secretaries of the CCDI. Zhang Zhong was also appointed as a member of the commission’s Standing Committee, solidifying the leadership structure responsible for overseeing disciplinary action and implementing anti-corruption policies.
The CCDI has indicated its commitment to ensuring the effective completion of all tasks outlined for the year, signaling an ongoing dedication to combating corruption and maintaining high standards of conduct within the Communist Party.
