Nepali Leader Urges Unity for Rescue Efforts Post-Devastation

Kathmandu— Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi, a parliamentary party leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has emphasized the need for unity among all parties to facilitate rescue operations and aid distribution in Nepal after the devastating events on August 26. In an address at the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, Shahi urged against blame games and stressed cooperation with the government.

Cooperation With Government

Shahi highlighted that RPP is extending its support to the government in search, rescue, and aid distribution efforts. He also called upon the international community and state agencies to stand alongside the government during this crisis.

Government's Role

While urging collective action, Shahi noted that as the executive authority with resources, the government bears more responsibility in leading disaster response efforts. He suggested that mobilizing federal, provincial, and local levels together could enhance effectiveness in handling the crisis.

Expert Involvement

Shahi recommended that the government seek assistance from experts and informants to conduct rescue operations more efficiently, especially in challenging environments such as tunnels where missing persons are believed to be trapped.
