Energy Sector Donates Rs. 21M to PM Disaster Relief Fund

Kathmandu— On Wednesday, various agencies in Nepal's energy sector donated an additional Rs. 21.2 million to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to aid ongoing relief and rescue operations following a national disaster. The contributions were made through the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation by the Electricity Regulatory Commission (Rs. 10 million), Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL) (Rs. 10.1 million), and Green Ventures Limited (Rs. 1.1 million). Additionally, on Tuesday, the Independent Power Producers’ Association Nepal (IPPAN) contributed Rs. 130 million to the fund.

Contributions Breakdown

The Electricity Regulatory Commission led with a contribution of Rs. 10 million, followed by HIDCL's donation of Rs. 10.1 million and Green Ventures Limited's contribution of Rs. 1.1 million. These contributions were handed over to Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha at the Ministry’s headquarters.

IPPAN Contribution

The Independent Power Producers’ Association Nepal (IPPAN) had previously contributed Rs. 130 million on Tuesday through Minister Shrestha, which was collected from its member companies. This significant contribution underscores the collective effort of energy sector stakeholders to support disaster relief efforts.
