Kathmandu— Nepal's government has maintained continuous search and rescue efforts for the tenth day following the catastrophic Bhotekoshi flood that struck on August 26, with authorities reporting 13,093 people rescued including over 300 foreigners, while approximately 5,083 individuals remain missing, including around 600 foreigners from 35 nations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

International Coordination Efforts

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Prime Minister Balendra Shah and Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal have received calls from global counterparts expressing sympathy and solidarity. Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese contacted Prime Minister Shah on Friday morning, highlighting international concern.

Nepal has mobilized the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force alongside disaster management authorities and local bodies. International teams from India, China, and South Korea are coordinating with Nepali forces, utilizing donated equipment such as drones, load carriers, and rescue materials to enhance operations.

Authorities continue to coordinate with international partners for additional resources while managing the recovery of 1,287 bodies and the ongoing search for 5,083 missing persons.
