Kathmandu— Search and rescue operations continue at multiple hydropower sites in Nepal following catastrophic flooding on August 26, with teams recovering two survivors and one body from the Trishuli-3 'A' tunnel while making significant progress at other locations including Trishuli-3 'B' and Langtang hydropower projects.

Rescue Operations at Trishuli-3 'A'

A joint team of 75 Nepali Army personnel, 18 from the Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police successfully rescued two individuals from the Trishuli-3 'A' hydropower tunnel, who are now receiving medical treatment at Birendra Military Hospital in Kathmandu.

The rescue effort also recovered one deceased body during the operation, with the Nepali Army confirming that search teams are still working to locate additional individuals trapped in the affected area.

Progress at Trishuli-3 'B' Site

A separate rescue team comprising 89 soldiers and three civilians has made substantial progress at the Trishuli-3 'B' location, excavating 426 meters into the site to reach trapped individuals.

The operation is being conducted with heavy machinery and specialized equipment to navigate the debris-filled tunnel environment, though the exact number of people still missing remains unclear.

Multiple Sites Under Active Recovery

At the Langtang Hydropower site, a team of 25 army personnel and two civilians entered the tunnel and recovered two bodies, with rescue operations continuing at the location.

Meanwhile, at the Chilime Hydropower Project, teams are using generators and pumps to remove sludge from the affected area, while the Haku tunnel at Upper Trishuli-1 is being cleared with the assistance of rafts and boats to navigate the waterlogged terrain.

Rescue teams continue their efforts across all affected hydropower sites, with operations expected to persist until all trapped individuals are located or confirmed missing.
