It stated that her life was in the hands of the recipient and urged swift action for everyone’s benefit. A second note, dated February 6th, claimed that Nancy had died shortly after being taken and was buried in nature. The note concluded with an apology: 'We are truly sorry.'

Investigative Efforts

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been using the distinctive linguistic characteristics of the ransom notes to seek recognition from someone who might know the writer. They have also released surveillance videos showing a masked individual tampering with Nancy Guthrie’s front porch camera and blocking it with a plant. Authorities are investigating two doorbell camera videos that may indicate preparations for the abduction on separate days, suggesting an unidentified male was involved.
