Kathmandu— ‘Today’ show host Savannah Guthrie has taken to social media to plead for help in finding her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie. Six months after Nancy’s disappearance from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, authorities have released ransom notes that may provide clues about the abductor’s identity or whereabouts. The family is desperate and believes someone knows something crucial.
Desperate Appeal for Information
Guthrie posted on Instagram a heartfelt plea for anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that her family is ‘desperate’ and ‘begging for help.’ She urged individuals who might have noticed something unusual or strange around the time of Nancy’s disappearance to share what they know. 'Someone has noticed something different, strange, troubling or just unusual,' Guthrie wrote, adding that it could be a way out for those conflicted about coming forward.
Details of Ransom Notes
Two ransom notes have been released by authorities in the investigation. The first note, sent on February 2nd, demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency and threatened to kill Nancy if the ransom was not paid within 12 hours. It stated that her life was in the hands of the recipient and urged swift action for everyone’s benefit. A second note, dated February 6th, claimed that Nancy had died shortly after being taken and was buried in nature. The note concluded with an apology: 'We are truly sorry.'
Investigative Efforts
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been using the distinctive linguistic characteristics of the ransom notes to seek recognition from someone who might know the writer. They have also released surveillance videos showing a masked individual tampering with Nancy Guthrie’s front porch camera and blocking it with a plant. Authorities are investigating two doorbell camera videos that may indicate preparations for the abduction on separate days, suggesting an unidentified male was involved.
