Trump Halts Attack Plans Against Iran Amid Conflicting Claims

ABC NEWS
१७ श्रावण २०८३, आइतबार   ४ : १५   बजे

Kathmandu— U.S. President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he has agreed to postpone any fresh attacks against Iran, despite earlier reports suggesting imminent military strikes. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the United States is prepared for military action but was asked by Iran and other Middle Eastern countries to hold off due to ongoing negotiations.

Iran Denies Requesting U.S. To Call Off Strikes

On Sunday, Iranian military sources denied Trump's claim that Tehran had requested the United States to call off its strikes. The sources described Trump’s remarks as a new lie and said his statements on Truth Social were an attempt to pressure Gulf states into supporting further negotiations.

Regional Diplomacy Intensifies

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi warned the United States against taking any adventurous actions, stating that those responsible would face consequences. He also spoke with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss regional developments and Iran’s readiness to respond to aggression.

Security Alerts Issued

In anticipation of potential conflict, U.S. embassies in over ten Middle Eastern countries issued security alerts urging American citizens to consider departing due to an unforeseen escalation. The warnings came after reports that the United States and Israel were preparing for intense strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure.
