Kathmandu— Former Mongolian Prime Minister and President of the Mongolian Chess Federation, Gombojavyn Zandanshatar, met with Nepal's Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel to discuss bilateral ties and potential collaboration in integrating chess into school curricula. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Education and Sports in Singha Durbar.

Strengthening Diplomatic Relations

During their discussion, Zandanshatar and Pokharel highlighted the historical diplomatic relations between Nepal and Mongolia, emphasizing shared geographical and cultural similarities. They agreed that these ties could be further strengthened through multidimensional cooperation in various fields.

Pokharel expressed optimism about deepening multifaceted ties between the two nations, noting their long-standing friendly relationship and mutual interest in promoting chess as an educational tool.

Promoting Chess Education

The meeting also focused on potential collaboration to promote chess education. Pokharel stated that Nepal is moving towards integrating sports into school curricula, with a particular interest in working with Mongolia's Chess Federation.

Zandanshatar shared Mongolia’s experience of integrating chess into the national curriculum and highlighted its benefits for intellectual growth and skill development among students.
