Kathmandu— Minister for Information and Communication Dr Bikram Timilsina emphasized the need for transparent and practical procedures to manage government grants aimed at supporting Nepal's film industry. The minister highlighted the importance of a systematic spending process for the Rs 35 million grant allocated for the current fiscal year, which is intended to encourage unique and culturally significant films.
Draft Procedures for Grant Allocation
At an interaction program organized by the Ministry, stakeholders from the film industry gathered to discuss a draft of 'Procedures Relating to the Incentive Grant Programme for Film Making in the Cultural and National Importance Sector'. The event aimed to prepare guidelines that would facilitate the effective mobilization of funds while ensuring transparency and accountability. Dr Timilsina stressed that the procedures should neither be overly cumbersome nor prone to misuse.
