Four Hospitals Approved for Teaching Status at Health Sciences University

Kathmandu— The government of Sudurpaschim province has approved four provincial hospitals to function as teaching institutions for the Martyr Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences (MDCUHS). The decision was made during a meeting of the Provincial Council of Ministers on August 6, with Seti, Lamkichuha, and Tikapur hospitals in Kailali, along with Mahakali Provincial Hospital in Kanchanpur, designated for this role.

Hospitals Designated as Teaching Facilities

During the meeting of the Provincial Council of Ministers on August 6, it was decided that Seti, Lamkichuha, and Tikapur hospitals in Kailali district, along with Mahakali Provincial Hospital in Kanchanpur, will serve as teaching facilities for MDCUHS. Prayagraj Khanal, Chief Private Secretary to Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, confirmed the decision stating that these provincial hospitals will be used as teaching institutions in line with the University of Health Sciences’ guidelines.

Legal and Administrative Steps Ahead

Following the approval, the necessary legal and administrative steps will now proceed. The government plans to reach agreements with relevant agencies to formalize these arrangements. According to Section 20 of the Act concerning MDCUHS, there is a provision for hospitals to be used under an agreement with the university.
