Nepalese Government Approves Compensation for Protest Victims in Sunsari, Siraha

Kathmandu— The Nepalese government has approved measures to compensate and provide medical assistance to the injured and deceased from recent protest incidents in Sunsari and Siraha. The decision was made during a meeting of the Council of Ministers on August 5, according to Deepa Dahal, press and research adviser to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Compensation for Protest Victims

The government has decided to offer financial compensation and medical relief to those affected by the recent demonstrations in Sunsari and Siraha. The Council of Ministers, during its meeting on August 5, took this decision after reviewing the situation and assessing the needs of the victims.

Deepa Dahal stated that the government is committed to addressing the immediate concerns of those impacted by the protests, ensuring they receive necessary support for their recovery.

Appointment of University Officials

In addition to approving relief measures for protest victims, the Council of Ministers also made appointments within the education sector. Prof. Dr. Khadga Bahadur KC was appointed as the chairperson of the University Grant Commission, while Prof. Dr. Roji Shreshta was named secretary of the same commission.
