Udhayanidhi Stalin Accuses Tamil Nadu Chief Minister of Using Diversionary Tactics

Kathmandu— Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin accused Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay of using diversionary tactics after his arrest, alleging it was meant to prevent him from raising concerns about the Cauvery river dispute and the Mekedatu dam project. He also criticized the state government's maiden budget for failing to introduce new schemes or address election promises.

Arrest as a Political Move

Udhayanidhi Stalin, leader of the DMK party and Tamil Nadu’s Leader of Opposition, lashed out at Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Wednesday. He claimed his arrest was a political maneuver to prevent him from discussing critical issues such as the Cauvery river dispute and the controversial Mekedatu dam project in Karnataka. 'These are merely diversionary tactics to shift public attention away from the numerous issues under this TVK government,' he said.

Budget Criticism

Stalin also criticized the state government's maiden budget, arguing that it failed to introduce any new schemes or address election promises. 'There is no scheme in this budget to fulfill the promises made during the election campaign,' he stated. He further accused the government of merely renaming existing schemes and failing to provide a roadmap for their implementation.
