Congress MPs Accuse BJP of Running Campaign Against Students

Kathmandu— Several Congress Members of Parliament (MPs) have accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of running a campaign against students, calling them traitors and goons. These accusations came in response to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's speech at an event in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Allegations Against RSS

Congress MP Manickam Tagore alleged that the RSS has been capturing educational institutions, particularly universities, over the past 12 years. He stated that RSS-affiliated individuals have occupied positions in these institutions, leading to a decline in their influence.

Violence Against Students

Congress MP Imran Masood accused the BJP of using violence against students during protests. He alleged that nail-studded batons were used and shots fired in Bihar, indicating a severe crackdown on student activism.

Education System Criticisms

Amar Singh, another Congress MP, criticized the government for closing 1 lakh government schools over the past decade. He questioned why education has become so expensive that common people cannot afford to educate their children and why educated individuals are unable to find jobs.

Bhagwat's Response

Congress MP Rajeev Shukla called on Mohan Bhagwat to express his views directly to the government. Bhagwat had earlier stated that students' grievances were genuine and that dialogue was necessary for system correction, not division.
