Kathmandu— Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday assured protesting youth that justice would be delivered transparently in response to allegations of irregularities within the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) exams. Speaking at the Jharkhand Adivasi Mahotsav 2026 event, Soren stated that those responsible for any wrongdoing will face severe punishment, emphasizing that young people should not need political patronage to secure their rights. The assurance comes amid ongoing protests demanding a fair and transparent recruitment process, with students alleging discrepancies in the recently announced JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination results.

Protestors Demand Accountability

Youth have been staging continuous protests and an indefinite sit-in, claiming irregularities occurred during public service examinations. The demonstrations began after the publication of the 14th JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination results on July 5, with aspirants alleging flaws in the recruitment process. They are demanding transparency and accountability from the relevant authorities.

Government Response and Dialogue

Chief Minister Soren stated that his government’s actions have empowered youth to voice their concerns and demand what is rightfully theirs. He also criticized attempts by political parties to mislead young people, urging them not to seek political favor. Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar echoed the call for dialogue, stating that Chief Minister Soren is “very concerned” about the students' problems and is in continuous discussions to find a solution. A fresh round of talks between the government and a delegation from the JPSC-JSSC Reform Manch concluded Sunday at the State Guest House in Ranchi.

Commitment to Transparency

Soren emphasized that justice will be served transparently, assuring protestors that this commitment would be visibly demonstrated. He also dismissed the use of force as a solution, stating that dialogue is the appropriate method for resolving issues concerning citizens. The government has already released a dedicated email ID to collect suggestions from students and stakeholders for policy reforms.

Allegations of Misinformation

Soren accused unnamed individuals and political opponents of spreading misinformation while attempting to undermine his administration’s progress. He claimed that those unable to accept the government's growing strength are operating behind the scenes to mislead the public, mixing truth with falsehood.

The Jharkhand government continues discussions with student representatives in an effort to resolve the concerns regarding alleged irregularities and ensure a fair recruitment process for future examinations.
