UAE Accuses Iran of Ballistic Missile Attack

ABC NEWS
२ भदौ २०८३, मंगलबार   ११ : ४५   बजे

Kathmandu— The United Arab Emirates has accused Iran of launching two ballistic missiles towards its territory on Tuesday, according to statements released by the UAE Defense Ministry and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA). The agencies reported that one missile landed in territorial waters while the other fell outside the country’s borders; they did not specify if either missile was intercepted. This alleged attack comes as a two-month period for potential US-Iran peace negotiations concluded without any apparent progress.

Reported Missile Impacts

The UAE Defense Ministry and NCEMA jointly reported that the country’s air defenses detected the launch of two ballistic missiles originating from Iran. One missile reportedly impacted within the UAE's territorial waters, while the second landed outside of its borders. The agencies did not provide details on potential damage or casualties resulting from the incident.

Context of Regional Tensions

If confirmed, this would be the first reported Iranian missile attack on the UAE in several months. Previously, during periods of heightened tension involving the United States and Israel, Iran targeted the Gulf nation, alleging that it permitted US forces to utilize its territory for launching attacks. The timing of this incident also coincides with the expiration of a two-month window intended for negotiations between the US and Iran.

Iran has not yet issued any public comment regarding the allegations made by the UAE. Further details are expected as investigations continue.
