Kathmandu— Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed the strength of relations between China and Indonesia during a meeting in Jakarta on Saturday with Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, chairman of Indonesia’s National Economic Council, emphasizing that their cooperation serves as a model for mutually beneficial partnerships within the Global South. Wang highlighted China’s commitment to supporting Indonesian development through investment and business ventures, while Pandjaitan affirmed Indonesia’s view of China as a trusted partner and pledged a favorable environment for Chinese enterprises. The meeting underscored both nations’ dedication to strengthening economic ties and fostering shared prosperity.

Strengthening Economic Partnership

Wang Yi stated that China is committed to assisting Indonesia in accelerating its development, encouraging continued investment from Chinese businesses within the country. He expressed hope that these investments would help transform Indonesia’s natural resources into economic growth and improve living standards for its citizens, furthering the nation’s industrialization process.

Pandjaitan acknowledged the significant positive impact of bilateral cooperation, particularly Chinese investment, on Indonesia’s economic development and the well-being of its people. He affirmed that Indonesia views China as a highly trustworthy friend and partner.

Mutual Commitment to Business Environment

Wang Yi specifically requested that the Indonesian government ensure a secure, stable, and supportive business environment for Chinese enterprises operating within its borders.

Pandjaitan responded by reiterating Indonesia’s commitment to providing a fair and welcoming atmosphere for Chinese businesses looking to invest and operate in the country.

The meeting signals continued collaboration between China and Indonesia, with both sides expressing optimism about future economic partnerships and their potential to serve as an example for other developing nations.
