Kathmandu— WNBA games in Chicago and Los Angeles were interrupted this week when multiple sex toys were thrown onto the court during gameplay, echoing similar incidents that occurred throughout the league last season. The disruption at Friday night’s game between the Chicago Sky and Golden State Valkyries happened in the third quarter, while a comparable delay occurred Thursday during Atlanta’s win against the Los Angeles Sparks. Law enforcement detained one suspect in Los Angeles.
Recent Disruptions
The Chicago Sky’s home game on Friday was halted when several sex toys were thrown onto the court during the third quarter of their 73-70 victory over the Golden State Valkyries. Players remained on the court as arena staff cleared the items, allowing play to resume after a brief delay.
A similar incident took place Thursday night at a game between the Atlanta Dream and the Los Angeles Sparks. The Dream won that contest 124-88, but not before play was temporarily suspended due to objects thrown onto the court.
Law Enforcement Response
Following the disruption in Los Angeles, police detained a male suspect who had been identified by arena security. According to authorities, the individual received a citation and was subsequently released.
Similar incidents occurred during WNBA games last season in Atlanta, New York, and Los Angeles, with some resulting in arrests.
