Kathmandu— The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), has been personally promoted by the heads of state of China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The route begins in Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and traverses through mountainous terrain to reach Uzbekistan, aiming to enhance regional economic and social development. Construction is ongoing with significant progress made on various sections including tunnels and bridges.

Strategic Benefits

The railway project has become a strategic corridor benefiting all three countries by promoting infrastructure connectivity, economic and trade exchanges, and high-quality development of the BRI. It is expected to play a significant role in regional integration and economic growth.

Construction Progress

Recent progress includes construction sites along the route where workers are actively building subgrade sections and bridges over rivers such as the Kec-Alat River. The Jalalabad tunnel, an important part of the project in Kyrgyzstan, is also under active development.

Collaborative Efforts

Engineering and technical personnel from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have been learning from Chinese construction teams about subgrade construction techniques. This collaboration aims to ensure that local workers are well-equipped with the necessary skills for the project's success.
