Kathmandu— The Nepal Police has initiated a DNA testing process to identify bodies and body parts of victims from the recent flash floods in Bhotekoshi. The police are urging first-degree relatives, including parents, children, and spouses, both within Nepal and abroad, to provide necessary samples for DNA verification to help identify their loved ones.

Process Details

First-degree relatives residing in Nepal have been requested to visit the laboratory at Nepal Police Hospital in Maharajgunj or nearby District Police Offices to provide fresh blood samples. For those living abroad, a digital photocopy of DNA profiling conducted at an authorized lab in their country is required.

Required Documentation

The police have specified that the full name of the concerned person, identification details, missing date and place if possible, the DNA test report obtained from an authorized forensic lab, and details of relationship are necessary to identify bodies and body parts through DNA profile comparison.
