Kathmandu— Kathmandu, Sept 1: Nepal's Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has stated that the government is making all possible efforts for the rescue of individuals trapped in tunnels of various hydropower projects affected by recent flooding in the Bhotekoshi river. At a news conference organized at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) on Tuesday, Minister Gurung emphasized that search and rescue operations are ongoing and have not lost hope.

Efforts to Reach Tunnel Entrances

Minister Gurung highlighted that the government has successfully reached the crown of the tunnel and is now working on digging through the top of the power house to reach inside. He clarified that all state mechanisms and apparatus have been mobilized for search and rescue operations.

Clarification on Foreign Support

The Home Minister also addressed rumors about the government's reluctance to accept foreign support, stating there was no truth to such claims. Drones are being used inside different tunnels as part of ongoing efforts to locate and rescue those trapped.
