Kathmandu— The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) or CPN-UML has allocated Rs. 12 million for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of people affected by devastating floods and landslides in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and other districts. The party has established a Flood Victim Rescue, Relief, and Rehabilitation Support Committee under the coordination of party secretary Mahesh Basnet to manage these efforts.

Committee's Responsibilities

The committee is tasked with coordinating rescue operations, collecting and distributing relief materials, mobilizing financial and humanitarian assistance, and supporting the rehabilitation of affected families. The CPN-UML has also outlined an action plan to coordinate with government agencies, local governments, and party committees at all levels to identify immediate needs in the affected areas.

Expressing Condolences

The party expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by floods in rivers such as Bhotekoshi and Trishuli. It paid tribute to those who lost their lives, extended condolences to bereaved families, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Urging Intensified Efforts

The CPN-UML urged all concerned agencies to intensify efforts to locate and rescue those still missing. Members of the House of Representatives, provincial assemblies, and local governments will be directly mobilized in rescue and relief operations according to the needs of their respective districts.
